Before You Order
We normally ship started pullets throughout the continental United States (49 states). However, until the weather cools, we will not be shipping. We will only have chickens available for local pick-up.
We cannot reserve chickens, even if the breed that you want is not currently available. If you want to buy chickens from us, you will need to place an order through our website for one or more of the breeds that we list as being available.
If you choose local pick-up from our farm near Waco, Texas, we will contact you by email with local pickup instructions. For local orders, the pick-up day is the same as the ship day.
Regardless of the shipping date or pick-up date, your credit card will be charged when you place your order because we do not have a way to delay payments.
Cuckoo Marans are known for their dark brown eggs and their “Cuckoo” barred plumage pattern.
Available at several different ages (see below). The hen in the photo shows how they look once they reach maturity.
Talk about a history lesson background: The Marans were developed in the French Commune of Marans. These is the place where they renamed the Temple of Saint-Etienne to the “Temple of Reason.” I guess it was the same reason that gave us the “Reign of Terror.”
The Marans breed was developed from fighting game chickens and improved by the introduction of Langshans. The Cuckoos are barred in feather pattern, but the barring is random or “Cuckoo”. They lay dark brown eggs.
